I heard John Piper preach something some time ago.  He said, there are parts
to our personality that are just very pleasant to ourselves and others.  But
there are also parts of our personality that are "disgusting" (his words not
mine) to others and ourselves.  Some of the greatest preachers in
Christendom had their own imperfections they dealt with.  Luther had his
anti-semitism and Whitfield pretty much left his wife alone in his country
while he travelled around and preached.

 I'm glad I'm not the only person that has to deal with his own disgusting
parts of his own personality.
