The people are crossing over a river. God told them to cross over it. As soon as they came to the edge of the river, the water went away, so that they could walk over on dry ground. We can see the water standing up like a wall waiting till they have gone over. It was God who made the water do this. The priests are carrying something on their shoulders through the river. It is the golden box called the ark. The ark has a cover on it, so that we cannot see the golden angels that are fastened to its lid. The man on horseback is named Joshua. He is their captain, as Moses used to be. But now Moses is dead.
