An Explanation for Sin

Do ever wonder why some people sin? Why
some just seem to be attracted to wrongdoing? James
tells us generally why people sin: “/But each man is tempted, /
/when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then/
/the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, /
/when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death/” (1:14-15). People
sin when they want something that God tells them is wrong.
They ignore their Father and listen to themselves. The
prophet Micah pronounces woe upon this type of person:
“/Woe to them that devise iniquity and work evil upon their /
/beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it /
/is in the power of their hand/” (Micah 2:1). Apparently, some
people sin just because they can. It is in each person’s power
to do good or evil. God will generally not prevent anyone
from committing sin. We glorify our Lord when we choose
to do well even while given the opportunity to sin. Let every
child of God use “the power of their hand” to do that which
will glorify God and not Satan.
