There are certain groups of religious people that believe that
only certain people will end up in heaven with God. The belief is
that God has predetermined who will go to heaven and who won't.
Paul writes to the Ephesians "Having predestinated us unto the
adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the
good pleasure of his will" (1:5). So while it is true that some
are "predestined" to go to heaven, the question remains who are
those that are predestined.

In writing to the Roman brethren Paul wrote that those God
predestinated "them he also called: and whom he called, them he
also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified"
(8:30). So the predestined are the ones God has called, justified
and gloried. Romans 1:6 declares that the Christian brethren in
Rome are those of the "called of Jesus Christ." So we can
determine that Christians are the ones that are called and
therefore are the ones predestined to enter heaven.

God indeed has determined who will go to heaven and who won't. He
made that determination even before the creation. 2 Timothy 1:9
tells us that God "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy
calling, not according to our works, but according to his own
purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the
world began." There are only certain people that will be in
heaven but those people are the ones that obey the Gospel of
Christ and become part of the church that Jesus died for. Your
destiny will only be determined by your relationship to God when
you die. You can determine what that destiny will be.
