Sounds like your PPP prefs (PPP control panel, Options, Connection 
pane) are set to connect automatically when a TCP/IP application is 
started. I would bet that if you launch Netscape or whatever without an 
established connection, it will do te same thing. Uncheck the "Connect 
automatically when startingTCP/IP applications", and it should get you 
farther. This is for OT/PPP... if you are using FreePPP or another PPP 
program, it probably has a similar setting somewhere.
