There are a couple of ways you can detect this:

1. SYSTEM(_aplActive) returns a positive number if your app is in the
foreground; a negative number if it's in the background.

2. If you don't want to continually check the value of SYSTEM(_aplActive), you
can wait 'till FB sends you a DIALOG event.  In your dialog-event handling
routine, test for an event of type _mfEvent, with id of _mfSuspend.  If you
get such an event, it means your app has been moved to the background.
