You are always going to be in trouble in SimpleText. It has no tab
function that I am aware of. I would think that if you export the file
with tabs, then open the file in a more robust text editor, it would
respect the tab characters without any trouble (appleworks, word, etc).

Also, I know you said you tried it, but with a (true) mono font, if you
put the right number of spaces between your columns (number of spaces
would vary with number of characters used in each "cell" of course) it
should line up OK.

I see you mention setting a monospaced font prior to saving without
success. Do you mean in FB??? If so, that won't help you any. When you
open the document in Simpletext, no font information will be there if
you are opening a text file. You would have to change the font to a mono
font within simpletext after opening your document.
