Paint into a GWorld, blit to window , track the mouse, size your
'brushes' and paint using Circle Fill or a CopyDeepMask approach.
Fill source world with paint color, fill mask world with circular
mask, copy as you go.

Perhapscheck out the fine demos with XCode and see if you can fathom
integrating those CoreGraphics/CoreImage brushes and techniques into
your paint needs. I seem to recall a painting demo. (might be
daunting, but it's non-deprecated)

On the other hand, I've checked out some very new programs using what
(appears) to be those methods, and they seem slower for painting than
GWorlds on this machine. Even my 200 pixel brushes are faster than
their 75's. But perhaps the graphics card is not helping in that
case. Not helping me either. :)

I'm bummed that GWorlds might be going the way of the Dodo in a few
more moons, and that things are so arcane and mystifying now just to
do basic things with all the Opaque records, multiple calls and setup
needed, and whatnot.
