There is a set of Navigation Services Utilities that encapsulate  
tasks like getting/setting options and providing separate calls for  
folders, creating/getting etc. that a programmers needs. Bernie  
published these at one time and I would recommend taking a peek. I  
don't remember if Bernie made these things public. Maybe he will  
chime in and let us know
