I am wondering if anyone knows how to generate a disk primitiveusing OpenGL...via means other than gluDisk.

gluDisk does not map textures correctly, in 'ring' fashion, it basically treats it as a circle cut out of a rectangle, not like a record...circular mapped.

I am trying to create and texture rings for a Saturn model. I can fake it with individual gluDisks for rings, and color them all separately I suppose, but texturing a single object would be more cpu friendly I'd think. Also, with gluDisk, seems you have to make 2 lists, and flip one 180, otherwise the back of a gluDisk does not show up? (might be setting issue)

Further, gluDisk is infinitely thin it seems, rings need to be about as thick as a 33LP record of yore proportionally.

Probably a sin/cos way to make a segmented quadric model of a ring (flat torus), but not sure how to define texture UV's.
