Aside from the apparent fact that Apple is getting rather too big and powerful for its own britches, and ours, this thing is a lovely confluence of art and design: another in a long series of beautiful designs. At a point where Apple could have come up with an ugly - or nondescript - box to house its new workings, and get away with it, they didn't. This beast leads one to think (and we'll leave aside the unsettling notion that Apple is trying to direct our thoughts) that there are still quite a few folk there who have poetry and music in their souls. They'd never have arrived at this without it.

Those of us still inclined to give Apple the benefit of the doubt will eagerly await the copies that will surely come, and snort with derision when they do. One thinks of the several "All In Ones" that sprinkle the landscape, and see them as hardly a dust bunny under the desk of a new iMac. It, too, is a rather beautiful thing.

Say what we might about the foibles of OSX, it is also quite a lovely thing, and never more apparently so than after a session with Windows.
