DAILY DEVOTION FOR THE CATECHUMEN. SOLEMN RENEWAL OF BAPTISMAL VOWS

To be used every day, with the Morning and
Evening Devotions, from the commencement
of catechization till the day of Confirma-
tion.

When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God,
thou shalt not slack to pay it; for the Lord thy God will
surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee. —
Deut. xxiii. 21.

If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to
hind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word,
he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his
mouth. — Num. xxx. 2.

Vow and pay unto the Lord your God. — Ps. lxxvi. 11.

Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto
the Most High. — Ps. l. 14.

When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it;
for He hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou
hast vowed.

Better is it that thou shouldst not vow, than that thou
shouldst vow and not pay. — Eccl. v. 4, 5.

Unto Thee shall the vow be performed. — Ps. lxv. 1.

I will pay Thee my vows, which my lips have uttered. —
Ps. lxvi. 13.

My praise shall be to Thee in the great congregation: I
will pay my vows before them that fear Him. — Ps. xxii. 25.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the
name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord
now in the presence of all His people. — Ps. cxvi. 13, 14.

Thy vows are upon me, God. — Ps. lvi. 12.

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto Him, and He shall
hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows. — Job xxii. 27.
