Jesus' Commands According To Matthew

  1. Repent (Matthew 4:17)

  2. Follow Me (4:19)

  3. Rejoice & be glad (5:12)

  4. Let your light shine (5:16)

  5. Obey the law (5:18)

  6. Be reconciled (5:23)

  7. Do not swear at all (5:34)

  8. Do not retaliate – turn your cheek to evil (5:39)

  9. Give to beggars &. borrowers (5:42)

  10. Love your enemies & pray for your persecutors (5:44)

  11. Be perfect, as God is perfect (this is not a suggestion) (5:48)
  12. Beware of practicing piety before men, to be seen by them. (6:1)

  13. Let your alms (our dues) to the poor be given in secret (6:3)

  14. Pray to God secretly (6:6)

  15. Prayers should be like The Lord's Prayer (6:9)

  16. Don't look dismal when you fast (Jesus assumes we will fast) (6:16)

  17. Don't collect earthly treasures – instead, collect heavenly treasures (6:19)

  18. Do not be anxious about your life (6:25)

  19. Seek God's kingdom & righteousness before other necessities (6:33)

  20. Don't judge others, or you will be judged (7:1)

  21. Do to others what you wish they would do to you (7:12)

  22. Beware of false prophets (7:15)

  23. "Come to me, all who Labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon, you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly
    in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is Light." (11:28)

  24. Beware of teaching from men like the Pharisees and Saducees (16:6)

  25. Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Jesus (16:24)

  26. We must be like children to enter the kingdom of heaven. (18:3)

  27. Don't look down on children (18:10)

  28. Obey the commandments (19:17)

  29. Love God entirely with yourself (22:37)

  30. Practice what Scribes & Pharisees taught, but don't emulate them (23:3)

  31. Watch carefully, for our Lord is corning unexpectedly (24:42)

  32. Watch, for the day & hour of His coming is not known by men (25:13)

  33. Watch & pray, so you may not enter into temptation (26:41)

  34. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing & teaching them (28:19)

 

Homework

Jesus says in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven," The "light" he refers to is not our works themselves, but something else.
