Ingredients:
3 Squares chocolate
3/4 Cup(s) Boiling water or coffee
or combination
3 Eggs, well beaten
2 1/4 Cup(s) Sugar
3/4 Cup(s) Butter
1 Pinch(s) Salt
1 1/2 Teaspoon(s) Vanilla
1 1/2 up to
1 3/4 Cup(s) Buttermilk
1 1/2 Teaspoon(s) SODA
2 1/4 Cup(s) Sifted flour
1 Square chocolate, melted
Directions:
Melt 3 squares chocolate in water. Cool. Combine eggs, sugar, salt and
butter. Add chocolate mixture, vanilla, buttermilk and soda. Add
flour. Pour into three 8- or 9-inch pans. Bake at 375 about 30
minutes. Cool and ice with Colonnade Icing (see Index). Dribble 1
